2013 Ends & 2014 Approaches
‘Organiser of the Year Award 2013’
The Cookstown & District Motocross has once again been awarded the organizer of the year award, from the ACU, for the running of our allocated round of the Maxxis British Championship in June 2013.
This is the second time in three year that we have won this prestige award and we are delighted to have been recognized for all our hard work yet again.
A lot of time and effort goes in to running any event and for the British Championship everything steps up a gear or two. This year was no exception and at ‘the Desert’ we only have a small team of workers and I can honestly say that each and every one of us are very proud of this award.
Thank you very much to everyone who helped in any way and to all who supported and sponsored us. In particular we would like to thank the ACU for all the hard work they also put into helping us run this event and for recognizing us again in 2013.
Final Events for 2013
Charity Practice Day – Boxing day 2013
This year we are running a charity practice day , under MRA rules , with the proceeds going to ‘Friends of the Cancer Centre ‘ which is based at Belfast City Hospital in memory of Callan McErlain , a young motocross rider , who passed away earlier this year.
All solo, youth & Adult and adult quad riders are invited to come along to support this charity. Signing on will be from 8.00am to 9.15am. Practice will be on the main track, weather permitting.
If any one wishes to volunteer to flag on the day please contact Breda 07927 906594 or Marlene 07731 438170 as we would like to keep our costs down as much as possible to ensure the charity benefits.
MOUNTAIN VIEW MOTOCROSS TRAcK & ‘THE DESERT’ PRACTICE TRACK
Mountainview Motocross Track has now opened for practice days and so far the feed back has been very good. It’s only half a mile from our main track and is a sand based track suitable for riding in all weather.
We have also set up a practice track at ‘The Desert’ which is out in the back section of the track. It is used on set days as we alternate between tracks.
Both tracks run under controlled timed session and groups are grade according to ability, i.e. grade A riders will not ride out with Grade c, youth will ride separate from adults and quads will not be out with solos etc., this way we keep safe practice and everyone gets loads of safe practice time. Flag marshals and first aid trained staff are always there.
Normal days of opening at this stage are Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday from 10am for all bikes – quads, sidecars , solos but riders must book in for week days – contact 07927 990313.
Saturdays will vary from week to week as we try to give everyone maximum track time i.e. One week all Solos Youth and adult, next week maybe Quads and adult solos or youth might be at the Desert while adults are at Mountainview – follow us on face book to see what is happening each week or text 07731438170 or email email@example.com
2014 Club Membership & MRA License Forms
Club membership forms are now out for 2014 and as many of you know to get an MRA license form for the race season the rider must be a member of a club.
If you would like to join the Cookstown Club please down load a membership form, fill in and post off with the fee to the name on the bottom of the form.
The MRA license forms will be sent to everyone who has joined up once they are issued from the MRA, which is expected to be the first week in January 2014.
