Race Season Soon To Start
After what has been an extremely wet winter we look forward to our 2016 season of racing at Desertmartin race track.
The 3rd of March kicks all off for us with ‘The Desert’ welcoming back the annual ‘March Hare’ event run by the NIMC Club which will be followed by the first round of the Irish Adult Championship round run by the Knock club . The first round of the Irish will also take in part of the ‘Back section ‘ track so should make it a little but more interesting for the riders and spectators
The Quads & Sidecars get their 1st championship outing for 2016 on the 12th March and Easter Monday the 28th March will see the 1st round of the Open Ulster Championship take place to finish a busy month in March.
Flag Marshalls are needed for all the events , so if you are 16 or over and wish to help out on any of these days please contact Marlene on 07731 438170 . Flaggers will be paid and lunch provided
All of the above events are run under MRA rules & Regulations and entry forms should be available at least 3 weeks before each event so make sure you get your entry in
Please see the calendar for other dates for the rest of the year and remember our practice tracks will be open most week.
Maxxis British Championship Back for 2016
It has now officially been confirmed – round 4 of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship will take place at Desertmartin Motocross Track on the 12th June 2016. Stuart Drummond , the Series Manager , from the ACU recently meet with The Cookstown Club and the contract has been signed .
After a two year gap this highly respected championship will return to Northern Ireland giving our home riders the chance to show the home fans how they rate against the best riders in the UK
The work starts now and we at the Cookstown Club will do our best to make this one of the best events in 2016 at Desertmartin and we hope the riders and the supporters back the event with their entries and attendance .
Remember Folks- It doesn’t matter if you are in the top 10 , top 20 or top 40 – set your own goals for the new season and make it your year for improving but most importantly ‘Enjoy your Motocross, and support racing ‘
MOUNTAIN VIEW MOTOCROSS TRACK & 'THE DESERT' PRACTICE TRACK
Mountainview Motocross Track has now opened for practice days for the past two year and so far the feed back has been very good . Its only half a mile from our main track and is a sand based track suitable for riding in all weather .
We have also set up a practice track at ‘The Desert ‘ which is out in the back section of the track . It is used on set days as we alternate between tracks .
Both tracks run under controlled timed session and groups are grade according to ability ie grade A riders will not ride out with Grade c , youth will ride separate from adults and quads will not be out with solos etc . this way we keep safe practice and everyone gets loads of safe practice time . Flag marshals and first aid trained staff are always there.
Normal days of opening at this stage are Monday to Friday for all bikes – quads , sidecars , solos but riders must book in for week days – contact 07927 990313 before 9.00pm the previous night .
Mountainview will be open most Saturdays (weather permitting ) but may vary from week to week as we try to give everyone maximum track time ie One week all Solos Youth and adult , next week maybe Quads and adult solos or youth might be at the Desert while adults are at Mountainview – follow us on face book to see what is happening each week or text 07731438170 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for updates .
